You can't decide your utility function. It's a given. You can only make decisions based on preference that, probably, can be represented in part as a utility function. Deciding to use a particular utility function (that doesn't happen to be exactly the one representing your own preference) constitutes throwing away your humanity and replacing it with whatever the new utility function says.
