You're confusing deodorant with antiperspirant.

Explain the difference please.

Deodorant kills odor-causing bacteria, and often contains perfumes and such.

Antiperspirant prevents you from sweating in the area in which it is applied, preventing the bacteria from making odors.

(Or something like that.)

Most of the time, a stick of "deodorant" you buy in the store contains both.

Executive summary: ANTIperspirant tries to eliminate sweating by blocking pores, deodorant aims to eliminate or hide the bad smell of sweat.
