How would adding this to Less Wrong interact with RSS feeds?

The grandparent explains how subreddits work. Meanwhile over here one of the software developers working on Less Wrong says, "If you can get more upvotes on your comment or Eliezer's attention, we can turn [subreddits] on quickly".

In the parent of this comment, Alicorn asks, "How would adding this to Less Wrong interact with RSS feeds?"

Until one of the software developers gives a definitive answer, allow me to give a speculative answer. It would probably create more RSS feeds. Pro: more choices of what feeds to subscribe to. Con: subscribing and unsubscribing to feeds has a cost, namely the time and attention of the reader.
