Aerodynamism IN SPACE? Whatever for? The cubes are almost certainly constructed in a vacuum and not designed to land, nor operate in atmo. The cube configuration allows for very efficient layout on the interior, very tidy formations in fleets, and lots of nice flat surface area to put exterior equipment.

Well the surface is hardly flat - it's at least not smooth. It's all knobbly and stuff. And I find it hard to believe that cubes are better than spheres for efficiency of interior layout, though perhaps their 'artificial gravity' makes a difference in a mysterious way.
