I don't know, this "Mortimer Q. Snodgrass" fellow seems pretty suspicious to me. I mean, a weird name like that is probably an alias. And "Ordinary Lane"? At a power of 2 no less? Tell me he plays tennis and I'll be convinced he did it.
Mortimer Snodgrass? Or maybe it was Homer Dalrymple. :) Either way, it sounds like a mad scientist's name.
(Six year late reply, I know, but I just heard the relevant chapter of HPMOR and was curious to see if anyone else caught the reference!)
