I think the answer is, Both. Republicans and Democrats would both want a singleton to take care of them; just in different ways. Those who don't want a singleton at all would be Libertarians.

I think no mainstream political party would be able to endorse, or to convince the public, "to let machines rule humans" which is how it will inevitably be framed. The US government (of whatever party) or military might try to build a singleton but they would not tell the public about it.
