I wish that the third and fourth approaches had more “everyday” examples like the first two do.

Let me see if I understand the original post:

Lottery Ticket: examples include ... buying lottery tickets, flirting with a stranger, investing in an adventurous startup.

Turn Disasters Off: examples include ... wearing your seatbelt, buying insurance, taking a taxi home when you've been drinking.
