There are many who are uncomfortable with the air of satisfaction that the faithful give off. I'm not convinced there's an asymmetry here.
The difference, hopefully, is that while LWers may be uncomfortable with the air of satisfaction the faithful give off, this is not the reason why they are atheists (in practice they may or may not actually live up to this lofty ideal).
