the greater the degree that you can demonstrate having a winning strategy the more people will listen to you. no one is going to listen to rationalists about winning unless we start winning.

But winning is subjective. You win if you reach your goals. And since other people have other goals they probably won't recognize your win. The discussion would probably go like this:

They: If you're so smart, why aren't you rich? Me: Because becoming richer than I am is not my goal. They: Then what is your goal? Me: Solving intellectual puzzles. They: What kind of goal is that? - then walks away.

I think we actually agree. let me try to state it differently. people will only listen to rationalist techniques from people whom they share goals with. I am assuming the goal with the highest commonality would be "get rich". Though in the past I have made appeals to other goals, such as personal security for the self and loved ones.
