I think there's some evidence that the Flynn effect isn't just about IQ tests: for example, I think it's only been within the past 30 years that there are popular books about popular culture.

I don't have titles handy, but I think the first one I noticed was essays about Stephen King. Since then, there've been books about the physics of Star Trek and the ethics of Buffy.

I'm curious about whether anyone knows of such books addressed to popular audiences from more than a few decades ago, or of studies of the genre.
