Are you sure it was there to begin with? This lottery thing sounds like it would work as a prevention measure against ugh fields, but maybe not a cure.
If you were going to do something like this, the best thing might be to purposely stop taking your meds for a while before starting again, so the ugh field could languish and weaken in intensity for a while.
If you look at the article, the people interviewed used to have trouble taking their meds. Some of the drug/psych patients failed rehab multiple times before getting through due to tiny financial incentives. That sounds like a cure to me.
And that solution does not make sense to me in any event. Getting yourself to do something you've been avoiding is, to my knowledge, never helped by deliberately avoiding it for an extended period of time.
