There are not very many seriously written-up position statements from Eliezer. So, it probably doesn't represent a very attractive target for "academics" to attack.
There are a couple of papers about the possibility of THE END OF THE WORLD. That is an unconvential academic subject - partly because no instances of this have ever been observed.
