To make things easier (and more enjoyable) for you to follow through with this and also to make the words 'real' for observers and the SIAI would you consider using some form of escrow service?
Pre-commitments are fun.
I would do this. I think GiveWell had a similar kind of setup at one point, having people commit to donating to their recommendation.
