(Post-cutdown) Maybe things would have been clearer if you had just created a new post, and linked to it from the old one saying "whoops, this is too long and goes all over the place, see this insteead" with a link to the new one. Now it's not easy to navigate through the comments to find which refer to the new, which refer to the old :P
