Once there is recursively improving AI, the human race is irrelevant; anyone planning to continue living under those conditions either has not thought things through, would be equally happy living in a permanent simulation, or as a wirehead.

I see your point, I was reasoning from "the human race" (ie, humanity in general) to an unjustified claim about individual humans and what the "should" do or believe.
