Cambridge Sunday meetup: New time and location

3 Post author: jimrandomh 04 December 2010 12:11AM

The Sunday Cambridge meetups, which happen on the first and third Sunday of each month, are now at 2:00 pm at Cosi, near Kendall Square. As discussed at the last meetup, we've changed the location because the old location was becoming too crowded, and the time to allow the meetup to go on longer before people have to leave.

Is this group currently active? What are meetups like?

Yes, we're still active. A typical meetup is 4-6 people discussing rationality and other random topics, and perhaps playing rationality-oriented games, for about four hours. The full schedule and mailing list are on the meetup.com page. The next two are on Thursday 21 Apr at 7:30pm, and Sunday 1 May at 2:00pm. You should come, we'd be glad to have your company.

Thank you! I'd be delighted to attend - I won't be able to make Thursday, but I'll try to get to a meetup before too long.

The meetup.com page still has the old (incorrect) time and location, and I don't have the access to change it. I've sent emails to Sean and Jeremy, who do, but for now there's incorrect information on there.

From Yelp

"Cosi is a great sandwich chain. The fresh ... Cosi is a great sandwich chain. The fresh bread is yummy. Yes, this one in particular is crowded, and yes it's doesn't have mind blowing atmosphere, but it has free wifi and constant freshness in the bread department. ..."‎ ‎ - Feb 23, 2010

Unfortunately I think that almost any restaurant or coffee shop will be crowded. It would be best if we could get a room at Harvard or MIT, but failing that it is possible to reserve a room at the main branch of the Cambridge Public Library. It would be worth looking into for future meetups, their info can be found here:

It has not been crowded the times I've been there. (Sadly I do not live in Cambridge, I just visit periodically, so I am not actually likely to make it to a meetup there!)

I work opposite that Cosi branch; it's rarely crowded when I'm there. I think it'll be fine.

It was pretty empty when I stopped by to check it out, but I'm sure that varies greatly by time of day and day of week. If it's crowded when we get there, we'll look into other options.

Jim, thanks for organizing these.

2pm of any particular Sunday, or is this weekly now? If the latter, suggest inserting "weekly" as the second word of the post's body (please do not change the title because that makes RSS readers reload it).

Edited. It's the first and third Sunday of each month, as per the previously established pattern.
