My observations suggest that many (maybe even most) people will ignore even pretty substantial inaccuracies for even a little flattery.
I think this tweet was overwhelmingly normative rather than descriptive
Then it should be rephrased as 'We should seek a model of reality that is accurate even at the expense of flattery.'
Ambiguous phrasings facilitate only confusion.
I read it as declarative - We (at spaceandgames) seek a model etc etc. Peter isn't the only person on that twitter account.
How did you figure that out?
I misunderstood how retweeting works.
