We've had too many "let's do X" posts. I have downvoted this one and will do so for any such in the future. I will upvote posts of the form "I have done X", where X is a valuable thing to do.
What about "I have done X, and encourage you to do X also?"
Case-by-case basis. If it's "I did X recently / am doing X currently, come join me", then up. If it's "I did X once three months ago and it seemed to work, maybe we should do this more often", then down.
