I believe the site auto-detects you are on the same IP and never puts you at the same tables. You're allowed to play MTTs with people in the same household, just not cash games or single table tournaments.

I have never heard the answer to what happens if you both make it to the final table. I believe the answer is something like they will audit the tournament hand by hand to look for suspicious behavior, and if they suspect collusion refuse to pay.
