The dichotomy between the Austere and the Empathic meta ethicist may well be false. I'd like to see more support for it, and specifically for the implicit claim that a question cannot be coherent unless we fully understand all its terms. Answering that claim may involve asking whether we can refer to something with a term when we do not fully understand what we are referring to (although the answer to that is surely "yes!").
