Yeah, surely you're not doing it just to flaunt your cleverness and sophistication.
That would hold up if I reacted adversely to the cleverness and sophistication of others. Which I don't. Thus the attempt to ferret out said qualities.
I edited the post to reflect how I feel about signaling cleverness and sophistication.
EDIT 12/21/11: Removed that part completely.
