When I was young people on LW didn't use pictures. There was text. And if you complained we threw another dozen links to walls of text at you.

We need our diagrams of alien invaders in order to recognize the aliens when they appear among us. Of the dangerous mutants, too.

They where there a few I admit. But they where shameful and modest. And we didn't talk about them. Look at how wonderfully sloppy those graphs where! These modern things are so prideful and vain.

Indeed - when I was young, we didn't use emoticons. We typed "emote smile" and let the MUD client fill in the rest.
