Seems like a lot of people are interested in contributing to a team but no one is interested in running one...

Why, thank you for volunteering :D

I'm still in "examining the problem" mode; until I have a better idea of the amount of work needed, how much that matches my skills, how much can be split up, ... discussing organization feels premature to me.

Also: "a lot"? I'm seeing you, me, Konkvistador, maybe thomblake and RobertLumley.

Isn't it always so?

The reverse problem is also prevalent: more people want to lead the team than can reasonably do so.

Leading the team without running it must be the most cherished position. Or rather a role where you help run the team but don't lead it must be the least wanted.
