Or some other site? And if not, why not?

I'm especially interested in higher quality versions, as well as in a easy to share (embedding) format with a possiblity of people commenting them. At least there is convenient way to download them. Watching the interviews with Peter Norvig, Vernor Vinge and Peter Thiel, I found the current way a bit buggy, full screen option didn't work for example.

People searching for say interviews with X person on youtube might find these and later head out to the SIAI website or watch the other videos on the channel. More clicks are good right? I'm asking because there are some modified versions of the interviews on the site but I didn't find the original ones there.

Yes I know there are ways around this, but why should they put trivial inconveniences in people's way? It should be more user friendly.

Edit: Also why haven't the presentations been updated since oh 2007?

Hello. As SIAI Media Director I can answer your questions. (michael@intelligence.org, anytime.)

I will download the interviews and upload them to YouTube, since you asked. Check back with me in a week.

I wasn't working for SIAI between 2005 and 2009 so I can't comment on why they weren't updated until 2009, but I can tell you that the reason they weren't updated during the last three years is that getting speakers to send in their presentation files is extremely difficult, and it looks awkward if they aren't all there. Sending speakers multiple follow-up emails is considered annoying. Many of these people are extremely busy and simply don't care.

At this point, the whole site is going to be completely redone anyway, so I'm more interested in designing the new site than updating the old one.

I'm guessing all the interviews are uploaded on YouTube by now?

I uploaded all the ones that were short enough to make it on YouTube, which is barely any...

I'll upload them all to Vimeo instead, hold on...

Ha. I did indeed. I guess I have to rely less on my spell checker. Thanks for pointing that out.

Also, it should be

Thank you.

Here they are:

There's no point in updating the presentations page right now because we're redoing the whole website.

Vinge's interview is damaged at the end, starting at 15:25 there's no sound and the picture freezes: http://vimeo.com/33618617
