I don't get it.
The first three bullet points in the grandparent are the most important ideas associated with the Singularity that everyone needs to know about. They accord with the Singularity Institute's predictions, with the core claims of Yudkowsky's three Singularity "schools", and Robin Hanson's ems scenario.
When I read Carrier's first sentence ("I agree the Singularity stuff is often muddled nonsense."), I assumed he would he would be skeptical of those three points in one of the usual ways. But instead he actually affirms two of them:
