The problem with notebooks is that they require me to physically write things, which nearly instantly cramps my hand into a claw.

My dream is a new MacBook Air with nothing on it but a PDF reader and TextEdit (yes, no AirPort either), but that's a lot of money. I may settle for an iPod Touch with Dragon Dictate. It's a free app and appears to work great.

Still, if I do decide to make dictation-to-text a major part of my idea capturing strategy, I expect there will be an adjustment process. Which may be alleviated by having a friend grill me Socratically.

Yeah, cramping my hand into a claw took me about five minutes. I shook it out and continued ...

Learning to grill oneself Socratically can help. I do quite a lot of my best thinking talking to myself, and tell loved ones this and firmly state my refusal to give it up when they look at me like I'm some sort of crazy person.

Voice recognition software has gotten pretty good and conveniently portable.

Just sayin'.
