That's great! Were you, like me, disturbed by EY's suggestion that a genuine eutopia HAS to be scary? I do prefer to know that I can have perfect safeguards against anything, including psychological disquiet, at any moment, even if I choose to tune them down.
I think his point was more that any plausible utopia would be scary, because it would be different.
But a story to convince people that utopias can actually be interesting places to live in is not the place to bring up all the scary parts...
The obvious direction to take the scary factor is the level of free choice they have, if I want to turn off all pain, take drugs or wire-head whats to stop me? IT seems the machines facilitate all human desires.
