More than that, many people in SU-affiliated circles use the word "Singularity" by itself to mean Singularity University ("I was at Singularity"), or else next-gen technology; and not any of the three definitions of the Singularity. These are smart, innovative people, but some may not even be familiar with Kurzweil's discussion of the Singularity as such.

I'd suggest using the name change as part of a major publicity campaign, which means you need some special reason for the campaign, such as a large donation (see James Miller's excellent idea).
