"Waterline" isn't off-putting, just opaque. So are things like "Oxfam".

It isn't even the bad kind of opaque; it's the curiosity-generating kind.

Anyway, better to be interestingly opaque than boringly transparent (not that those are the only choices).

I dislike opacity, myself. Also, I find "Oxfam" transparent.
