It's funny, I was just thinking earlier today about how, when I was seventeen, I drove 75MPH down a really curvy hill, lost power steering for some godforsaken reason, and slid a few hundred feet into a concrete barricade. (I had a pretty decent car, Mazda Millenia S, one of the only cars with a Miller cycle engine.) The speed limit was 20MPH. The new tire cost me a full hundred bucks! Anyway, the lesson is, don't test the Lord, but if you do, the decision theoretic generalization of anthropic selection will still save you.

ETA: By the way, I wish I had an easier way to reference the decision theoretic generalization of anthropic selection. In my head I use "Fortuna" or "Fortuna Privata" or "Fortuna Redux" but APPARENTLY no one can figure out what I mean when I say things like that.
