This sounds great. A couple questions:

  1. Why do you ask for my LW username? Will I be judged for poorly thought out comments or misfired jokes?

  2. What is the difference between the 3 day and the week long? How do I decide?

I'm not sure what to say about 3-day vs. week-long. We know week-long worked last year; 3-day seems worth trying, because, if it works well, it'll allow the material be accessible to a much larger set. We'll give you the best three days of stuff, but there'll be less total stuff and less chance to bond. I guess I'd come for the week if you have time for it, and would come to the 3-day if you can fit that but not the other?

In any case, don't delay your application while considering. You can always email in later with a changed timing preference.

I'd like to second the second question. Should I be worried about the 3 day camp attempting to cram in too many useful techniques or the week long camp having filler?

The week-long camp will not have filler. At the minicamp, there were exercises that I suspected weren't useful -- the "rationalizing game" stands out in my mind -- but probably a bigger problem was trying to pack so many things into a week's span. I definitely had the feeling that I needed to be taking good notes, because I couldn't possibly absorb everything in the various sessions during those sessions.

They ran our camp for 10 weeks or so. Sure, some of that was filler. But they have enough there for at least a week.

That's great to hear. On the other extreme, could I get enough out of a three day retreat to bootstrap future learning?
