Suppose Rhawawn knew in advance that you would upvote the post if and only if Rhawawn downvoted it. Then if Rhawawn does nothing, nothing happens; if Rhawawn downvotes, nothing happens. No information can enter the system. Please don't let other people's voting influence your own, it dilutes the amount of influence they have. You should judge each post on its merits and vote accordingly.

I would do that if upvotes and downvotes were shown separately, but as long as only the difference is shown, if there's a reasonable but not terribly interesting comment at 1 I leave it alone, if it's at -2 I upvote it and if it's at 16 I downvote it.
