So, Lojban is getting actively obnoxious, ignoring the informal kinds of feedback. What's to be done (in the cases like this)?

It appears that Karma cannot be negative. There also does not appear to be a way to ignore comments from users below a certain Karma threshold. The ability to set a Karma threshold together with the ability for Karma to be negative would seem useful for this kind of situation. Setting a Karma threshold of 0 would not be ideal as it would block comments from new users as well as trolls.

I'd just like to say as an occasional Lojbanist that the LW user “Lojban” does not speak for us.

Also of note, I do not speak for chickens.

With relevance to the subject, I say the thing to do is downvote obnoxious comments and then stop reading them. Also, do not reply. This is standard behavior when dealing with trolls. If someone is annoying you (a) talk to an admin or (b) ignore them.

I gave him the benefit of the doubt, the voluntary castration sounds so crazy, but the absurdity heuristic is there for a reason, maybe I gave too much credit for simply being on LW.

It's not that part that's trolling. Look at his recent history.

Someone like this is just griefing, and is impervious to downvoting. I think we can ban such trolls as this without any danger of evaporative cooling. (Um, is there a moderator with the banhammer?)

And I don't speak for the military.

(Why the hell do I keep using a username I picked when I was 12, anyway?)

I know: I am honored to include among my friends Robin Lee Powell and Matt Arnold.

LW doesn't register negative karma right now. It should.

Sufficiently negative karma should enforce a maximum posting rate.

Of course, that just leads to getting lots of accounts. Not sure how to deal with that.

I would like some clarification on "LW doesn't register negative karma right now." Does that mean

  • my negative points are GONE, or
  • they are hiding and still need to be paid off before I can get a positive score?

Thanks

I believe they stick around invisibly. Your karma should always be dynamically the sum of upvotes and downvotes you've received.

THanks for the clarification.

I guess I won't be posting articles to LessWrrong, as I have no clue what I'm doing wrong such that I get more downvotes than upvotes.

The worst punishment is an IP ban, which is only really helpful if the banned is not smart enough to switch locations. Generally speaking, annoying people go away if you ignore them. Thanks to karma, the comments will be censored out automatically once it passes your threshold.
