The last thread didn't fare too badly, I think; let's make it a monthly tradition.

I think it is a bad idea.

I expect such a monthly thread to be a net loss as we have reasons to suspect we are already seeing politically tinged fragmentation.

My impression is that there is a bigger problem - some LW-relevant issues become political inside LW.

I have no reason to claim that poitical threads help or hurt, though.

Recent discussion and feedback.

I find the fact that both people who see themselves as left leaning and those who see themselves as right leaning suddenly feel there is favouritism for those who disagree with them is a much more worrying sign. I think this is what being on one side of a tribal conflict looks like from the inside.
