To expand a little on what timtyler said, I think you're mixing up beliefs and actions.

Doing nothing doesn't make your beliefs less wrong, and placing bets doesn't make your beliefs more right (or wrong).

Wanting to be 'less wrong' doesn't mean you should be conservative in your actions.
