I kind of wonder about the motivations for doing this sort of thing. The one that comes immediately to mind is an unfriendly AI trying to conquer the world.
This is what it typically do. Even Friendly AI tend to do it. :)
Well, yeah. And once again, Less Wrong somehow manages to make 'unstoppable steely relativistic death' seem tame.
