I like to say that a reductionist is one who believes simpler explanations are superior to more complex explanations, all other things being equal.
An "emergentist" would probably define their view in the same way. The question is, simpler for what purposes?
For that very reason, I also tend not to use the word "reductionist".
So my objections aren't aimed at you!
Why? That's a believe in occam's razor.
