I've yet to see e.g. a comment that TheOtherDave can't politely steelman, to general approval and upvotes - contrary to PhilGoetz's wild generalisations that appear to be from one example. The most important example - himself. Seeking the failure in some purported general trend before seeking it in one's own agency is the easy way out - becoming the victim of some Great and General Injustice (tm).

When you're watching out for a wrong-way driver, yet see most everyone apparently driving the wrong way, maybe it's time for, um, introspection?
