I'm not sure I completely follow your reply to the hot dog and bun example. As the questioner pointed out, we may simply be reaching a saturation of the amount of hot dogs and buns we need. Maybe I'm being unfair but I feel you hand-waved that concern away. You say that:

Which is true, but doesn't address the question, because you don't have to have robots replace 100% of humans for some people to find themselves without a job.

It's plausible we'll never see a city with a high-speed all-robotic all-electric car fleet because the government, after lobbying from various industries, will require human attendants on every car - for safety reasons, of course!

I am sad to say that I agree with you, and in fact I have seen otherwise logical people support this position (though I have converted many of them personally).
