In all fairness, I think Islamic fundamentalists really do hate our freedom. They hate our entire way of life, and this freedom is a part of that.
Hating the freedoms of western society doesn't preclude one from committing brave, selfless acts, though. Unfortunately for us.
Clearly they DO hate our concepts "freedom of religion" and "freedom of speech". (They will explicitly say so!) There may be some freedoms that they would value... though actually maybe not. Maybe they value deference to Islam so highly that any kind of individual freedom would entail the freedom to violate Islam and therefore be evil.
