... Clarify? I don't see very much "point-scoring" at all - most of the posts I read are genuinely helpful, dissenting opinions continue to be upvoted... I suppose I wouldn't notice if someone was trying to game the karma system, but certainly the top ten list is occupied by genuinely useful posters.
My comment wasn't aimed at posters, but at the way LWers respond to posts, and to each others' comments.
Pardon me - by "posts" I mean "all content, comments and top-level-posts included," and by "posters" I mean "users." I think of LessWrong as a forum, in general, so I usually think of a top-level-post as a "thread" internally.
