Unless everyone has an equal ability to effortlessly switch telepathy on and off, separately for inbound and outbound communication, at any moment, I'm not for it.
Why not?
If I'm set to be permanently "on," I can't control who reads what from my mind. If I'm set to be permanently "off," I'm not able to send special thoughts to my favorite people. I'd treat the question of whom I mind-talk to the same as the way I treat in real life the question of whom I mouth-talk to: case by case.
