Yesterday I received the following message from user "admin" in my Less Wrong inbox:
But the link goes to a 404.
I got this, too. I was concerned that it was might not be what it claimed to be, and avoided clicking the link. I view with suspicion anything unexpected that points me anywhere I might reasonably input login details.
I got it too. I think it was a typo in the URL which should instead appear as your preferences page
Does that link actually work for you? If I enter my password, it briefly says "submitting" and the button moves to a different spot, but it doesn't seem to create a wiki account.
This seems like the answer. Can one of the admins validate that this was the intended link?
That private message was part of a new feature to encourage wiki participation, by helping existing Less Wrong users onto wiki accounts. Unfortunately the link to create an account didn't point to the right place.
If you tried to create a wiki account and had the brief flash of "submitting" (like Pfft), make sure you've got a validated email address associated with your account.
Got the message too, and that 404, then created an account with the form below my username.
Also did the same.
I got one as well. Link http://wiki.lesswrong.com/prefs/wikiaccount
I got a similar / identical message. Anyone know what was up with that?
Ditto.
