For anyone who's annoyed by having to check newest submissions for Main and Discussion separately, there is a feed for combined submissions from both, in the form of Newest Submissions - All (RSS feed).  (There's also Comments - All (RSS feed), but for me at least, it seems to only show comments from Main and none from Discussion.)

Thanks to RichardKennaway for bringing this to my attention, and to Unknowns for asking the question that prompted him.  (If you've got the time, head over there and give them some karma.)  I thought this deserved the visibility of a post in Discussion, as not everyone reads through the Open Thread, and I think there's a chance that many would benefit from this information.

If you just want post titles you can use http://lesswrong.com/r/all/recentposts

These links should be... somewhere, at a permanently visible place, not only in this article. The sidebar perhaps?

I would think a link at the top, next to the Main and Discussion links would be more visible.

In the meantime, do you think it would be a good idea for me to move this post to Main?

Thanks very much! Good to know.

I didn't know this, and have been subscribed to both the main and discussion feeds since forever. Thanks.

Am I the only one who didn't realize that there's a whole other set of 'main' posts that are not accessible directly from either the 'main' or 'discussion' links, but have to be accessed by first going to 'main', then switching from 'promoted' to 'new' (or via RSS)?

I feel like I can't be the only one, but... I also feel like I've been reading the site for quite awhile now.

(In general my sense has been that Main's been much more dead since the site redesign that stopped showing it as the front page... I'm not sure whether this new discovery is evidence for Main's demise (because if I couldn't find those posts, surely many other people didn't either), or against it (because apparently there were more posts than I thought, although I'm not sure how many more.))
