I'm glad to see this subject get more attention. There's just one terminological point I want to raise. You use the word "controls" a lot, where I would expect either "control theory" or "control systems" depending on context.
Good point. I've gone through and disambiguated the posts. (The one place I left it in is 'controls engineer' in the next post, because that's what I hear people call it, and Google seems to agree it's common enough.)
