I dont have any recommendations for books, but the course "https://www.coursera.org/course/optimization" is very good. Even if it has finished you can join and watch / download the lectures.

I think ze's trying to optimize learning, not learn optimization. The title is admittedly ambiguous.

Another weird nitpick: I don't think technical-esque FAI resources should be linked to people who aren't looking for them or who don't have the ability to understand them. It seems to me that it would result in net negative utility on average.
