Certainly one of them is more “pleasant” to have around. ... Both halves of the process are critical

future post request - strategies for:

  • making the other more pleasant
  • dealing better with the other being unpleasant
  • doing things with the unpleasantness that make them more productive (or making good use of the sway)

I've found that simply asking the question asked near the beginning, "what is this for?" to be fairly helpful with negative emotions in general.

Yeah, that's a new heuristic I've adopted recently, that I think other more effective humans around me were already running.
