I've thought of a second alternative thought experiment. Imagine that this doesn't happen when you go to sleep. Imagine that instead you are just teleported away and a clone teleported into you place while you are awake - even in the middle of a conversation, with the clone continuing on perfectly and no-one noticing. For some reason, this feels like it makes the scenario less persuasive.
