I was a little surprised that no one seems to have plugged this film here yet, but anyone interested in trans-human AI really needs to see Ex Machina.  DO NOT expose yourself to any spoilers!  It is very important not to know the ending of the film before you see it for it to have its full impact.  But I will tell you this: the resemblance of one of the main characters to Eliezer Yudkowsky is probably not coincidental.

Update: apparently I was wrong about the film not being mentioned before. Fwiw I did do a search using the LW site search before posting this and got no results.

It is good to notice your surprise. But that's only the first step.

Lots of people have mentioned the movie: A B C D E F G via google

Hm, I searched for "ex machina" on the LW site search before I posted this and got no results.

This belongs in a Media thread.

It isn't a bad movie but it isn't really a must-see.
