That's not the problem though, right? People don't engage in fact-checking, evidence presenting or steelmanning. People engage in tribal signalling, strawmanning and outgroup shaming.
That's what to fear. I do endorse expressing secretly your opinion, but at what point does it become "being wrong", if you avoid confrontation?
